A case of bruxism

The patient has an increased teeth abrasion and teeth mobility.

A common cause for the accentuated abrasion of teeth is bruxism. The grinding or rubbing of the teeth produce their severe destruction: dental fractures, muscular pain, limitation when opening the mouth.

It is important to detect bruxism as early as possible I order to reduce its destructive effects. The treatment pursues the lowering of the emotional stress, the balancing of the occlusion and the elimination of dental interferences; also wearing a mouth guard for nightly protection is necessary. These mouth guards are made of soft acrylic materials and are positioned between the teeth, impeding their rubbing and consequent destruction. As these get old and perforated, it is much easier to replace them, rather than the dental structure.
